01. Three Essential Sterilization Rooms
Our Sterilization Supply Center consists of three critical rooms. Before entering, all staff members must be fully equipped with protective gear including caps, protective eyewear, masks, sleeves, gloves, and aprons—because these instruments carry pathogenic bacteria that could cause occupational injury.
Room 1: Cleaning Room
Used for thorough instrument cleaning and drying. This is where all instruments receive their initial preparation before sterilization.
Room 2: Sterilization Room
Instruments are cleaned, packaged, and placed in a professional high-pressure steam autoclave. This effectively eliminates all microorganisms, including spores. The standard sterilization cycle takes approximately 45 minutes.
Room 3: Sterile Storage Room
Only instruments that have completed the sterilization process and passed quality inspection are stored here. This ensures that only properly sterilized instruments are used in clinical procedures.
Staff Training: Every sterilization staff member at Distinct Dental must pass theoretical and practical examinations, complete a trial period evaluation, and undergo annual retraining. This ensures consistent adherence to our high standards.
02. Our Sterilization Protocol: "Four Rinses, One Drain, Two Disinfections"
Between every two patients, we perform dental chair disinfection, water line cleaning, and change chair covers and isolation barriers—ensuring "one patient, one clean setup".
We have established a standardized dental chair water line disinfection protocol to ensure clean pipes and water quality. We summarize this as "Four Rinses, One Drain, Two Disinfections":
Four Rinses:
① Before clinic opens: Rinse suction lines and spittoon (approximately 3 minutes)
② Daily routine: Rinse high-speed and low-speed handpieces, triple syringe, water spray, and internal scaler lines (approximately 8 minutes)
③ Before each patient: Rinse used lines (approximately 1.5 minutes)
④ After clinic closes: Final rinse of high-speed and low-speed handpieces, triple syringe, water spray, and internal scaler lines (approximately 3 minutes)
One Drain:
Daily drainage of residual water from all lines (approximately 2 minutes)
Two Disinfections:
① Bi-weekly: Disinfect independent water bottles (approximately 12 minutes)
② Monthly: Disinfect high-speed and low-speed handpieces, triple syringe, water spray, and internal scaler lines (approximately 20 minutes)
03. Water Quality: A Cold Fact You Should Know
Beyond these procedures, we perform monthly sampling and bacterial culture testing of dental chair water and external scaler equipment outlets to monitor bacterial colony counts and ensure compliance.
Here's an interesting fact: The water used in Distinct Dental cleanings is safe enough to drink.
Through regular water quality testing, we ensure that dental chair water contains fewer than 100 CFU/mL of microorganisms—meeting national drinking water standards. The water in our scalers is also specially sourced from reputable brands of purified water, guaranteeing hygiene and cleanliness. Even if you accidentally swallow a small amount, there's no risk (though we don't recommend using it as drinking water!).
