How to Prepare for Your Health Check-Up

Distinct Healthcare — Your Preparation Guide

Before
🍵 Diet
  • Rest well and avoid strenuous exercises prior to your health check.
  • No food or drink for 10–12 hours prior to your appointment. A small amount of water (no more than 300 mL) may be allowed in the morning on the day of your health check.
  • A light breakfast will be served after your check-up.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol for 24 hours prior to your health check, as it may significantly affect certain blood parameters (e.g. liver enzymes).
♀ For Women
  • We recommend scheduling your health check while you're not on your period.
  • Refrain from vaginal activities (e.g. douching, sexual intercourse, tampon/vaginal suppositories/spermicides use) within 48 hours prior to cervical cytology tests.
💊 Medication
  • If you take medications for diabetes (e.g. oral hypoglycemic agents or insulin), please bring them with you and take them after the examination to avoid hypoglycemia.
  • If you have other routine medications in the morning, please take them as usual with a small amount of water.
  • If you have taken antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), or Bismuth Potassium Citrate within 1 month prior to your health check, your check-up may be postponed as these may affect the H. pylori antigen test result.
During
🔊 Ultrasound
  • Do not empty your bladder prior to uterine ultrasound (transabdominal) and urinary system ultrasound.
♀ For Women
  • Please inform our medical staff if you have never been sexually active, as transvaginal exams are performed only on patients who have had sex.
  • For women who have never had sexual intercourse, please choose "transabdominal uterine ultrasound" (requires a full bladder).
HPV Testing Guide:
• If previous HPV result is positive → HPV Genotyping Test, 23 Types is recommended.
• If previous HPV result is negative, or screening for the first time → Cobas HPV DNA Test is recommended.
📷 Imaging
  • If you are planning for pregnancy (including men), pregnant, or breastfeeding, CT scan should not be performed.
  • For mammography: Avoid using antiperspirant, deodorant, talcum powder, body lotion/cream, or perfume on the chest and armpits. Metal particles in these products may interfere with the mammogram.
  • Physical film copies are not provided. Your radiology images will be available online — scan the QR code on your report to view original images anytime with permanent storage.
🧪 Specimen
  • Female clients are advised to collect a urine sample before taking a cervical specimen, as blood mixed in the urine may affect urinalysis results.
  • Please drop off your stool specimen at the Laboratory by 5:00 PM.
  • If you are unable to collect a stool sample, please inform our staff.
👁 Eye Check
